today at the bookstore i asked the lady working if she had any lgbtq books that i could check out and her eyes magnified in what i mistook as horror and i thought i had offended her and then she said “i have a bag of lesbian fiction in the basement i’ve been waiting for someone to finally ask” and she all but burst down the stairs to get them for me
"I have a bag of lesbian fiction in the basement" is my new go-to pickup line
This scene in particular killed me in this episode, because from Nagisa’s point of view, no, Rei wouldn’t understand.
Rei is exceptionally smart, while Nagisa is average in school. Rei is exceptionally athletic (at least in track), while Nagisa is an average swimmer. Rei is logical and straightforward, while Nagisa is driven by his emotions and hides things from others.
Nagisa sees himself as Rei’s inferior, and that’s why he gets so upset when Rei tries to help, because Rei wouldn’t have these kinds of problems to begin with.
